1st day: your arrival at Ko Samui airport. There are direct flights to Koh Samui from Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya, Krabi, and Chiang Mai with Bangkok Airways. In addition, there are a few small airlines that have flights from Kuala Lumpur and Penang Island, Malaysia. lk
Once you arrive at Koh Samui airport, you will find our free transfer service ready to bring you to Choeng Mon Beach Hotel. Our dive resort is located on Choeng Mon beach at the resort, which allows you to walk conveniently to our PADI dive center. Take time to relax after a long journey, and please drop by the dive center before 5:00 p.m. if you want to start the course the following day, or just to say hello.
Day 2: We will meet you at our classroom at 9:00 a.m. were we will view the Open Water Diver DVD and review the theory. Around 12:00 a.m. we will break for lunch and then move on to the swimming pool to practice the confined water skills. We are normally done by 16:00 and free to explore Koh Samui above water...
If you like, we can also deliver the Open Water Diver DVD for you to review the day before the course begins. If you do that, we will only need about 1/2 a day for the first day of the course and you can choose to do the pool session and theory review in the morning or in the afternoon, whichever will work best with your schedule.
Day 3: We will pick you up at 7:00 a.m. and drive to the pier where a light breakfast is served. There we will board a high-speed catamaran that will take us to the private island of Koh Nangyuan, near Koh Tao. The catamaran has full facilities including air-conditioned VIP room, snack bar, reclining seats, movies on board and toilets. The journey takes about 90 minutes and during this time you will complete one more quiz and prepare yourself for the dives with your instructor.
After arriving at Koh Nangyuan we will board our dive boat which reaches the first dive site around Koh Tao in less than 10 minutes. After the first dive we will return to Koh Nangyuan and you will be served a rich buffet lunch at the restaurant. After lunch we will go for your second open water dive around Koh Nangyuan. About 2:30 in the afternoon we will board the catamaran again for the boat trip back to Samui and will be back at Samui around 4:30 p.m.
Koh Tao is also known as the “turtle island” as its shape resembles a turtle. Koh Tao's little sister island, Koh Nangyuan, is a private island that consists of three smaller islands connected together by a beautiful sandbank. Together, these islands form four bays with crystal-clear water, white sandy beaches with no strong current, a variety of colorful reef fishes and fascinating coral reefs that offer optimal conditions for diving. Koh Tao area dive sites are famous for clear water, lack of strong current and a wide variety of fishes and corals.
Day 4: We will pick you up around 7:30 am and board a dive yacht or a speedboat and start the journey to Sail Rock, one of the most interesting dive sites around Koh Samui. The trip to Sail Rock on this boat takes about 45 minutes to an hour and we use the time to complete our review of your open water diver academic materials and prepare for the dives, and on the way back you will complete the final exam of the Open Water Diver course. You will make your third and fourth open water dives at Sail Rock and between the dives we will have lunch and relax for about an hour.
After successfully completing the course, you will be certified as an Open Water Diver and therefore be able to dive to a depth of 18 meters without a dive professional. You will have the freedom to choose whether to dive with a certified friend or under the supervision of a divemaster or scuba instructor. However, for safety reasons we do recommend to dive under the guidance of a professional or with a buddy who knows the dive sites well, especially in the beginning of your dive career.
Day 5: Open - Explore Samui island or just relax on the beach. |
