The rock stands 15m (50ft) out of the surface, located between Koh Pha Ngan & Koh Tao, creating the best wall dive in the gulf of Thailand with a maximum depth of 34m (131ft).

The wall is covered in orange sponges along with many clams and oysters clinging to the surface. The diving site is full of small crevasses which make it a perfect habitat for yellow margin and white-eyed moray eels. An interesting feature of the dive site is a natural chimney eroded into the rock. You enter a wide opening at 18m (60f) and ascend inside the rock to come out at 12m (33ft). The dive site is just over an hour away from Koh Samui via dive yacht.

The site is famous for sighting of Whale sharks in season, at almost every dive you swim surrounded by large schools of Pick handle Barracuda, big-eye Jacks, and rainbow runners.

ANG THONG NATIONAL MARIN PARKThis scenic group of islands became famous worldwide in a recent Hollywood film and novel “The Beach”

At the park, you can experience first hand beautiful swim throughs, caves and waterfalls.
Similar to the movie, divers follow an underwater tunnel through the island at Koh Yippon Lek.

The best diving in the park is to the north at Hin Nippon (Japanese Rock) and Koh Wao with a maximum depth of 25m (82ft) and 20m (66ft) respectively. The dive sites have an amazing variety of soft corals and marine life, you can see all the typical marine life in the Gulf of Thailand on any dive.

With shallow depth, slack current, and good visibility the sites are great for novice divers, snorkeling and swimming. In season, you are likely to see whales patrolling the depths.

Whale Shark

Koh Tao’s most impressive and desirable (by revisiting divers) dive site, Chumphon Pinnacle is also one of the most challenging dive sites with occasionally strong currents and a maximum depth of 36m (120ft). The site consists of four massive pinnacles that tower up to 16m (53ft) below the surface.

As the site is a good distance offshore, in season visibility is excellent, more than 30m (100ft) and Whale Sharks with accompanying striped Remoras can often be spotted.  The site is an ideal place to spot big groupers, pick handle barracuda and mackerel.
